My February musings

by Sonja Faul

I didn’t travel in February and I have to say, my feet are itching! That’s two whole months without travelling. I did a couple of travel-related things, though…does that count? Haha! I think it does. Here’s my February round-up.

Submitted my visa application

During the first week of February, I submitted my visa application for Australia. I’m travelling Down Under at the end of March, with a 14 hour layover in China. That’s going to be rough! But I can’t wait to see my family again and this will be my first time in Australia. I’ll be spending 5 weeks hanging out with them, seeing as much of the amazing wildlife as I can, and exploring all that the Gold Coast has to offer. I’m literally counting the days: 27 more to go!

Bought tickets to Copenhagen

Last week we bought flight tickets to Denmark. My husband and I are going on a cruise in July. Our cruise starts in Copenhagen, then sails north to Norway via Germany. I’ve never been to Norway before, so I’m super excited.

Rocked out at a Nu Metal concert

This past weekend we went to a nu metal show at Melkweg in Amsterdam. Now, I’m more of a death/melodic black metal girl, but I’ve been listening to P.O.D. since my university days and I was stoked to see them live. They didn’t disappoint! Sonny, the lead vocalist, just radiates positive energy and good vibes filled the venue. I’ve had a huge smile on my face since the show. Alien Ant Farm opened for P.O.D. but I didn’t like them, at all.

I’ve been reading…a lot

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to read more books, specifically more crime fiction novels, which is my favourite genre. I finished The Good Daughter by Karen Slaughter at the beginning of the month (the book was great, btw). I followed it up with the short novella prequel, Last Breath. Currently I’m more than halfway through The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn. And I’m loving everything about this book so far! What have you been reading?

Furthermore, I’ve been exploring more of Amsterdam with my friend, Nerina who moved to the city at the beginning of the year. Just last week she found this amazing English second-hand bookstore online and we went to check it out. Also, I’m revamping my blog which will go live tomorrow, fingers crossed. Until next month when I’ll be writing to you from Australia!
