Staying at the Enziana Hotel in Vienna

by Sonja Faul

The Enziana Hotel is an Alpine themed hotel located two kilometres from Vienna’s city centre. It’s close to public transportation and in no time you’ll be anywhere in the city. The Enziana Hotel was my home during my first trip to Vienna.

When I arrived

Check in time is only from 14h00 onwards. I arrived early, but my room wasn’t ready yet. My luggage was safely stored away while I explored the Christmas Market at Belvedere Palace just around the corner from the hotel.

Rooms

I stayed in a double room (number 126) on the first floor of the building. The room has a lush red carpet and is fitted with a bed, closet, table and chair and heating.

The ensuite bathroom is tiny but functional. There is only enough space to fit one person at a time. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin and toilet. There are two dispensers for soap/shampoo, one at the basin and one inside the shower.

Hotel facilities

Enziana Hotel has an onsite restaurant that’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Daily housekeeping will keep your room clean and provide you will fresh towels every day. There is free WiFi available throughout the hotel.

Christmas gift

I stayed in the hotel during the festive season and was surprised with this lovely gift on Christmas day.

Staff members

Staying with the Alpine theme, all the staff members wore traditional clothing. They were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast

A rich breakfast buffet is served every morning from 06h30 to 10h00 in the restaurant next to reception. The food is really good! Beverages include coffee, hot chocolate, fruit juices and an extensive selection of loose teas.

As for the food, expect to see fruit, yoghurt, cereals and muesli, a wide range of pastries with preserves, boiled and scrambled eggs, sausages, cheese and cold meat.

My favourite part was the delicious coconut cake! But everything was really tasty.

Try to get up early and go to the buffet. Every morning by the time I finished my breakfast, there was a queue to be seated inside the restaurant. Go early to avoid that queue.

What I didn’t like

My main issue with the hotel was the barely working internet. During my stay, it probably only worked for 10% of the time, which for a blogger, is really frustrating. I couldn’t update my social media channels or post new blogs on my website. I ended up going to a bar a couple of doors down from the hotel to use their WiFi.

The rooms are also not very soundproof. I woke up a couple of times during the night because of random noises.

I realise this is not a fault of the hotel, but our room smelt like smoke even though this is a non-smoking hotel. Because of the central ventilation system in the hotel, if guests smoke inside their rooms, the smoke gets into all the other rooms on that floor. Very inconsiderate!

What I liked best

The location of the hotel is great and the breakfast buffet is great! And the whole Alpine theme is quite cool!

Will I stay in the Enziana Hotel again?

No, I don’t think so. I think there are better hotels out there in the same price range.

Tips

If you want to book a room at the Enziana Hotel, book through Amoma. They have the best rates!

There are lots of budget food options around the hotel and around the Rennweg S Bahn stop just down the street from the hotel.
