Prague is one of a handful of European capitals where you can stay in an affordable 4* hotel. So this is exactly what I did by booking a room at the Best Western Kinsky Gardens.
Location
The hotel is located across the river from the Old Town Square in the Mala Strana Quarter. The Charles Bridge is only 10 minutes away on foot while the Dancing House is 17 minutes away on foot. If you are up for a longer walk, the Prague Castle is 30 minutes away. Just down the street from the hotel is a couple of supermarkets and a number of restaurants where you can eat.
Also, the Best Western Kinsky Gardens hotel is located in a renovated building that dates back to the 1890’s. Bottom line, it’s a beautiful building.
When I arrived
Checking in was easy. Have your passport ready because, in order to check into the hotel, you need your passport number and visa number (if you have a Schengen visa). I didn’t receive a welcome drink, which was a little bit disappointing.
Rooms
I stayed in a double room on the third floor of the hotel. The room has a wooden floor and is fitted with a large double bed, minibar, safety deposit box, telephone, a desk and chair, air conditioning and heating, and a television.
The ensuite bathroom has a great shower, toilet, and washbasin. You’ll also find complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer in the bathroom.
Hotel facilities
24-hour reception
Free WiFi throughout the hotel
Room service is available
Luggage storage
A business center
A tour desk and currency exchange
Staff members
My interaction with the staff members of the hotel was limited. But when I did have contact with them, they were always polite, friendly and helpful.
Breakfast
A breakfast buffet is served every morning between 07h00 and 11h00. You’ll find a variety of beverages including tea, coffee, and fresh fruit juices. I highly recommend the Multivitamin fruit juice. As for the food, you can expect to see fresh fruit, a salad bar, yogurt, a selection of cold meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs and hot breakfast meats and a variety of pastries. The croissants were very tasty. Overall, the breakfast was good, but not great.
I couldn’t fault anything…
Perhaps only one suggestion, a little more variety of food at the breakfast buffet. It lacked the WOW factor for me.
What I liked best
The interior of the hotel is beautiful with lots of wooden surfaces.
The location of the hotel is great and you can easily reach all the attractions in Prague on foot. If you’re too lazy to walk or if it’s just too cold, there is a tram stop just down the road.
Would I recommend Best Western Kinsky Gardens to my friends and family?
Yes, I very much enjoyed my three-day stay at the hotel. When it comes to booking your room, be sure to shop around to find the best rates. I booked my room through Amoma.
